Guiding us to a Brighter Future...

We are very proud that West Burton C of E Primary School  has been judged as an ‘outstanding’ church school in the recent  SIAMS inspection (October 2017). Please click here to read our inspection report.
West Burton C of E Primary School  has a strong Christian heart and well-established links with the local Christian community, centred around St. Andrew’s Church in Aysgarth. Reverend Lynn Purvis-Lee and a dedicated team deliver collective worship regularly and support our staff and governing body with reflection.
We are always seeking to develop and enhance our distinctiveness and effectiveness as a church school and have established some really positive aspects in order to do so:
•    Collective worship is based on the exploration of distinctly Christian values. We are currently exploring the value of ‘forgiveness’.
•    Children are actively engaged in planning, delivering, and evaluating Collective Worship.
•    Our experienced leader of collective worship, RE and church school Ethos, Mrs Natasha Johnston, leads effectively across the whole federation, motivated by her strong personal faith.
•    Children have designed and produced a prayer trail around school.
•    Christian values and our strong ethos permeate the work of the school.
•    School councillors have produced our RESPECT code, and in doing so, evaluated its links to Christian values.
•    We have strong links with our local church (St. Andrew’s, Aysgarth).
•    We work closely with the St. Oswald’s Christian community at Askrigg and Reverends Lynn and Dave lead joint services for the children of all three schools in our federation.
